Winter Solstice: December 21

It is almost time to celebrate the heat and light of the returning sun. Many cultures celebrate the solstice as a day of rebirth and renewal. Its origins can be traced back to the yin and yang philosophy of balance and harmony. It is a time of positive energy.
Please enjoy this beautiful passage about letting the Light in, courtesy of The Center for Spiritual Judaism. The light will always lead us through the darkness. During this solstice Jupiter and Saturn will form a rare “Christmas Star”. They will appear closer on Earth’s night sky than they have since 1226 A.D.

What a wonderful time to become a skygazer! The two planets will put on a light show that has not been seen in about 800 years.

From The Center for Spiritual Judaism:

Light has always symbolized the presence of Infinite Intelligence, God, Spirit, the True Self, the Beloved, or any of the many other names humankind has used to describe the Life Force behind all creation.

This Life Force is always present, even in our darkest times – we just have to remember to call it forward in our interior awareness. We don’t have to generate this Light, we have to reveal it. As it says in Genesis 1. 3 …”Let there be light, and there was light.”

“Let” there be light: Allow the light that is already there to reveal Itself; with mindfulness we need only be open to its presence. No struggle, no pushing, no forcing, no denying or avoiding the darkness; just allow the Light to reveal Itself.

When we remember the presence of light, it brings an awareness of our connectedness to the One Life and all sense of separation dissipates, followed by an inner peace that brings balance and a renewed perspective. This is when we can begin to perceive the moment through new eyes – eyes that can see beyond the darkness and into a new day where a revitalized spirit, mind and body await us.

This may sound easier said than done when we are immersed in emotional darkness, which is why we need not over complicate the process of remembering. The Light will always lead us through the darkness.  ~ (Dennis Jones)

  3. Light has always been present in the universe….in fact, light has illuminated our worlds since creation. This light is still present in the universe. We see, feel and think with the help of this light.. thanks for reaffirming this for me.
